On April 26, the 2017 Summary and Commendation Meeting for the Battle Against Environmental Pollution Prevention and Control in Queshan County, along with the Mobilization and Deployment Meeting for the 2018 Battle, were held. Attending the meeting were County Party Secretary Lu Geng, Deputy Secretary of the County Party Committee and County Mayor Peng Guangfeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the County Party Committee, Secretary of the County Discipline Inspection Commission, and Director of the County Supervisory Commission Tao Yuqiang, Vice Chairman of the County People's Congress Standing Committee Guo Quanxin, and Deputy County Mayor Wang Yuehong, among other county leaders. Also in attendance were heads of various towns (subdistricts) and heads of relevant units directly under the county government.

At the meeting, Lu Geng, Secretary of the County Party Committee, on behalf of the county’s four leading bodies, extended warm congratulations to the advanced collectives, enterprises, and individuals who have been commended. He also made arrangements and deployments for intensifying efforts to prevent and control environmental pollution throughout the county this year and in the coming period. He emphasized that while we should acknowledge our achievements, we must also clearly recognize that certain enterprises still lack strong environmental awareness, the task of reducing pollution remains daunting, and the level of scientific supervision is yet to be fully improved. All departments and levels across the county must accurately grasp the situation, maintain steadfast resolve, and ensure that their thinking and actions are fully aligned with the requirements and deployments of the Central Government, the Provincial Party Committee, the Municipal Party Committee, and the County Party Committee. We must adhere to scientifically informed strategies and continuously enhance our governance capabilities. Preventing and controlling environmental pollution is both a tough battle and a protracted war. We must remain problem-oriented, thoroughly identify existing issues, prioritize key areas of prevention and control, improve management mechanisms, and strengthen our governance capacity, gradually establishing an investment mechanism guided by the government, led by enterprises, and supported by social participation. We must pool our collective strength and vigorously ensure the effective implementation of our work. The battle against environmental pollution is a systematic undertaking involving all aspects of society; therefore, we must strengthen leadership, assign clear responsibilities, unite our forces, and focus on rigorous implementation to guarantee that we win this battle against environmental pollution.

The meeting was chaired by County Governor Peng Guangfeng. He pointed out that all levels and departments throughout the county must set realistic goals, hold firm to the bottom line, and strive for high standards. We must ensure that our work is thoroughly implemented—turning goal requirements into clear checklists, concretizing principled guidelines, and effectively carrying out the directives issued by the provincial, municipal, and county Party committees. We need to translate plans into actions, turn actions into tangible results, and transform specific requirements into concrete measures. We must firmly assign responsibilities: environmental protection is a bottom-line task, and we must adopt robust measures and exert extraordinary efforts to win the tough battle against environmental pollution. Moving forward, we should make every effort to explore how to strike a proper balance between environmental protection and sustainable economic development, overcome difficulties with determination, and mobilize the entire county to fight wholeheartedly and decisively in the battle against environmental pollution.

At the meeting, Tao Yuqiang, a member of the County Party Committee’s Standing Committee, Secretary of the County Discipline Inspection Commission, and Director of the County Supervisory Commission, read out the County Government’s “Decision on Commending Four Units, Including the County Environmental Protection Bureau, and Eight Comrades, Including Wang Yuehong,” as well as the County Party Committee and County Government’s “Decision on Commending Advanced Collectives and Individuals for the 2017 County-Wide Battle Against Environmental Pollution” and “Decision on Commending Advanced Collectives and Individuals for the 2017 Ecological County Construction.” Wang Yuehong, Deputy County Mayor of the County Government, summarized the 2017 efforts in tackling environmental pollution and laid out plans for the work to be carried out in 2018. County leaders also presented awards to representatives of advanced collectives and individuals. Our company delivered a model speech as an advanced unit in the 2017 battle against environmental pollution in Queshan County.
